Every day with Helen is a happy mother's day, but Sunday was especially lovely. We spent the afternoon at Fort Snelling State Park - one of my very favorite destinations in the Twin Cities.
Two really funny things happened on our walk through the woods. First she's learning about her last name, so I turned to her and asked her what her last name is and she stopped in her tracks, looked up at the sky and said, "uuuuuuuuuh. hmmmmmm. fffffffff... uuuuuuuh.... FOSS!!!!!" and we cracked up. She was so proud of herself and kept repeating it. "Henum! Foss!"Second, a dog passed us on the trail and Helen called after it in her loudest squawk, "DOG!!! DOG!!" (sounds more like "dock!") and tried to catch up. Some people passing us laughed and said she sounded like a baby bird. This is how she looked marching down the trail after the dog:
